What is SCIM?
SCIM stands for System for Cross-domain Identity Management. It is an open standard protocol designed to simplify and automate the management of user identities, groups, and their attributes across different systems or domains.

The primary goal of SCIM is to provide a standardized way for identity provisioning and synchronization in cloud-based applications and services.

It enables easier integration between identity management systems and various cloud service providers, making it more efficient to manage user identities and access rights across different platforms.

With SCIM, administrators can create, read, update, and delete user accounts and groups in a consistent and interoperable manner, regardless of the service provider or application used.

This streamlines the user provisioning process and ensures that changes made in one system are efficiently propagated to others through SCIM's RESTful API.

SCIM is particularly useful for organizations that rely on multiple cloud-based applications and services, as it reduces the administrative burden of managing user identities and access permissions across different platforms, resulting in improved security, compliance, and overall efficiency.

Practically, SCIM enables you to get new starters set up across all your systems and platforms from one centralised location.

Likewise, it means that for leavers, you can remove them via SCIM from all systems, as opposed to going into each system individually to remove them one by one.

How does Jiminny come into all this?
Jiminny can now be installed as one of your SCIM endpoints, meaning that users can be provisioned and removed in compliance with identity management protocols.

How do I provision SCIM?
You should also be one of your organisations Technical admins or work directly on your Identity Management provider to complete these steps.
